Spark Newton has consistently advocated for more City resources to be devoted to
placemaking initiatives. that transform vibrant, inclusive hubs of community connection and
cultural expression

•  In 2025, as Newton Community Pride, we successfully advocated for the installation of decorative lighting on the Newton Centre Green.
•  In 2024, as Newton Community Pride, we took a leading role in organizing a coalition to
  advocate for the creation of a Cultural District running along Washington Street from
  West Newton to Newtonville. These efforts are ongoing as we wait for the
  Massachusetts Cultural Council to update the guidelines for the Cultural District
  program.
