At Spark Newton, our mission is to enliven Newton—visually, economically, and culturally. Through shared creative experiences, public art and placemaking, and community grants and scholarships, we enhance the quality of life for residents, businesses, and visitors throughout the city. Our work sparks inspiration, fosters meaningful connections, and celebrates the unique spirit of each of our 13 villages.
Free & Accesible Arts & Culture Events
Arts and culture have the power to connect people, celebrate diversity, and foster understanding. Spark Newton harnesses that power year-round with our signature events: Winterfest, Village Center Concerts, Black History Month programs, and Haiku Newton. Through invaluable collaboration with the City of Newton and our community partners, we also proudly provide funding and support to bring the annual Festival of the Arts to life.
Engaging Public Art & Placemaking
Public spaces are canvases waiting to be filled, Spark Newton transforms public spaces into vibrant expressions of creativity, from the Gath Mural Project to #PictureUsNewton selfie stations. As the lead financial sponsor of City programs like Artful Pianos and Halloween Window Painting, we help bring creativity to unexpected places. Our commitment extends to beautifying Newton with gardens and planters throughout the city.
Community Grants & Scholarships
Spark Newton fuels creativity by offering annual micro grants to local groups and individuals, along with scholarships for graduating seniors pursuing the arts. Through these initiatives, we strengthen Newton’s artistic community and empower the next generation of creators.
